Govt urges Centre to upgrade State highways

To improve conditions and maintenance of State highways, the Jharkhand Government has written to the Centre to upgrade them into National Highways. In a letter to Union Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Government has named 23 roads for upgradation.

 

The exercise of converting the important roads into NH is aimed to link those further with other highways and enhance the connectivity in the process. If the proposal is accepted, there will be 42 NHs in State covering approximately 4,029-km stretch. The NH status will also enhance inter-State connectivity, NH grid, tourism bringing pace in tribal area development. Presently, there are 23 NHs covering bout 2,601 km.
